Humane Technologies Discovery Themes

This is a three part Virtual Reality Experience for the Oculus and Kinect created as part of a collaborative research project funded by the Discovery Themes Grant at OSU. These environments were designed in collaboration with OSU Associate Professor of Dance Norah Zuniga Shaw to encourage healthy playful movements like balancing on one foot and cross lateral reach. Each part of the experience takes place ina different surreal environment that challenges the player's sense of space and self. Also created the website for this project! Currently in progress!

Shadows Mapping

I designed an interactive application to create real-time graphics in accompaniment to Shadows Mapping dance performance, choreographed and performed by Angelica Bell and Biag Gaongnen. The application was created using Unity3D and kinect motion recordings of the performers. I also cued the lights and graphics for each performance.

Muscular Dystrophy Game

Made at Nationwide Children's Hospital using OSU-developed Soliton hardware and the kinect for use as a movement assesment tool in the Muscular Dystrophy Clinic. I worked on the concept for this game, created the city environment(modelled from a map of the hospital campus) and did some character design.

The Last Ingredient

This is a 2.5D side scroller game made in 48 hours during chillenium game jam 2016. I worked on a team with three other participants, none of which had ever worked with a game engine before. I created the character models for this project and helped my teammates realize their ideas for the levels, ui, scripting and art in this project. I was also the lighting designer for this game.

Summer 2016 work for Nationwide Children's Hospital

This is a prototype of an application developed to teach children how to take sublingual tablets for grass allergies. For this project, I collaborated with John Luna to develop characters, wireframes of the screens in the app, as well as an iOS build with one of the characters (Dijon the cat) included.

Work done during my research assitantship at ACCAD under Maria Palazzi and Matt Lewis for the Transportation Research Center. For this project, I created a maya prototype for an car test track, a unity project that allows the user to drive around the track, and a website to show our progress on the project.

Girls @ Code

For two semesters in 2016 I taught an afterschool coding club at The Metro School. I created notes and templates to teach middle school girls the basics of Processing. This club was funded by the Ohio Women's Fund.

John Luna and I spent a semester working on two builds that are two halves of one game. In addition to gyroscope controlled games set inside and outside of "the cave", we tried out a new collaborative process, pen-pal style, for iterative design. This project started as a summer internship at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and developed into a thesis project. It is a virtual reality game that serves as a pain mangement tool for children undergoing prophylaxis and other medical procedures. I made this game in collaboration with John Luna, under the direction of Jeremy Patterson and Dr. Amy Dunn. It is currently going into testing in clinic.

Mini-Game Saga

Mini-Game Saga, Three mini games for android!

UpsyDaisy: The player double taps to fold a dimension and flip into a new space. Avoid the dark pointy enemies, collect objects and deposit them in the rainbow well.
RolyPoly: The player tilts the device to get the bouncy guys through the portal. The portal moves every few seconds and the bouncy guys get smaller as they bounce off the walls, so time is of the essence! As the player gains points, the room grows larger and becomes filled with architectural structures.
CocoonDrag: Drag cocoony through the starry maze. Create a trail of objects as directed by the tiny UI in the upper-left-middle of the screen. As the player scores points and moves cocoony through the end-level archway, new levels develop with more walls and more trail specifications.
The nexus: The nexus connects all three worlds and vets players for mechanic understanding before they can make it into each mini-game world.

I developed some of the behind-the-scenes controls and projected content such as a projected oujia board with spider-planchette, real-time controlled paper dolls and digital thaumatropes. Audio visualization for musical performance with real time controls, developed in processing with Shumeng Zhao. We choreographed a performance for Columbus's drums downtown event in the performance of "Fandango 13" as seen in this video. In this video, we are in the back of the orchestra pit cueing the audio visualization changes live.
